Weddings

Wedding days are great celebrations and we are always delighted to hold wedding services in the benefice.

Anyone who lives in the benefice, regularly attends worship at any of our five churches, or who has a significant connection with the
Wedding benefice, is invited to contact us about being married here.

Significant connections include:

Having lived in the benefice for 6 months
at any time.
Having been baptised or prepared for confirmation at any of our five churches.
Some parental – and even grandparental – connections with the benefice.

We all know that getting married is a significant and sacred undertaking. To help you prepare for this, our clergy usually meet with couples three or four times before the big day.
The meetings will partly be to help you plan the day and to help you make choices such as what music you will have, what readings you'd like etc.
During the meetings, we will also give you a chance to talk about what a Christian understanding of marriage is, and how being married might impact your life.

Planning your Visit

A Very Warm Hello!

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at each church at least one Sunday in the month. Please see each church on the 'Our Churches' page for details of when the service are. For your first visit, we recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to ensure you get a parking space and find somewhere to sit before the service begins. When you arrive, you will be greeted by someone who will give you the service booklet and hymn book, they can also answer any questions you may have. Please do let them know if you have mobility challenges and will need communion brought to you.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits after the service. This is a great way to meet our welcoming church members, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

Our Service

The main service begins with notices about the benefice. Then follows a time of worship with hymns, prayers, scripture readings, a sermon based on scripture and the Eucharist (Holy Communion).

What about my children?

Each church has a children's area with toys and books for the children to play with, we ask that a grown up is with them at all times. Children are also very welcome to be with grown ups in the congregation where they can see and hear everything that is happening.

Getting Connected

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week/month, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Small Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Serving and Volunteering

If you want to get involved in the life of the church and help us make Sundays run smoothly, you can sign up to serve on a team please contact our Administrator who will put you in touch with the relevant people.
